Our Members Deserve More—But We Can’t Do It Without You

We’ll be honest—VRAC’s ability to support our profession depends on volunteers.

Each of our initiatives—from national conference events to member engagement and education, awards and communications—relies on a team of passionate volunteers behind the scenes. And right now, several of our committees need your help! We’re calling on you—our members—to lend your voice, ideas, and time. Just a few hours a month can make a powerful difference.

Several Committees are open to new volunteers:

Communications Committee

  • Description: The Communications Committee supports the management company with board communications, marketing initiatives, and content for social media and the website, while assisting with related projects such as e-blasts and other communications as needed.
  • Chair: Karen Sablowsky

 

Education Committee

  • Description: To oversee the development of professional educational and training programs for the membership of VRA Canada and other professionals.
  • Chair: Andrea Genereux

Governance Committee

  • Description: To develop, monitor and recommend good governance framework, ensure policies are current, and to lead processes to support and evaluate the effectiveness of the Board, Committees and individual Board Members.
  • Chair: Terena Delaney

 

Conference Committee

  • Description: To provide guidance, advice and support to the VRA Canada Conference Committee for the delivery of the annual conference.
  • Chair: Renee Dauldlin-Iacobelli

    (Filled / max capacity for 2025/2026)

Membership Voices Committee

  • Description: The Membership Committee will undertake to develop goals, growth targets and strategies for the recruitment, engagement and retention of members. The Committee will also form a link between board and members, act as ambassadors for the organization, and identify and recommend opportunities to promote the value of the association.
  • Chair: Val Lougheed

 

MentorConnect Committee

  • Description: The VRA Canada MentorConnect Program is managed by the MentorConnect Team, a sub-committee of the VRA Membership Voices Committee, which is a standing committee under the organization’s by-laws. The program aims to enhance mentees’ and mentors’ understanding of the profession and the association, provide guidance to new or recently joined VRA Canada members as they navigate their career paths, and offer support regarding accreditation.

Partnership Committee

  • Description: To network and build partnerships with organizations or government committees that could influence the vocational
    rehabilitation field and advocate on behalf of members. To monitor and complete frequent reviews of government legislation
    and policy impacting on the field and participate in government consultations and advocacy, as appropriate.
  • Chair: TBD

 

Student Advisory Team

  • Description: To provide guidance and advice to the VRA on early student involvement with the Association and on membership services that would benefit students.
  • Chair: Olive Chijoke
