Practical Techniques to Reduce Accuracy, Privacy and Bias Risks

Once an AI use has been determined to be appropriate, the next question is how to use the tool in a way that supports—not replaces—professional judgment.

This optional practical session helps vocational rehabilitation professionals create safer AI-assisted workflows for permitted tasks such as generic drafting, plain-language communication, research support, and reusable administrative templates. Participants will learn how to minimize unnecessary information, use fictional or appropriately de-identified examples, set clear task boundaries, request sources and limitations, and identify output that requires correction, further verification, or rejection.

The focus is not on “better prompting” for productivity alone. It is on reducing avoidable professional risk. Structured instructions can make AI output easier to review, but they do not make the information automatically accurate, authorize the use of confidential information, validate an assessment, or replace vocational rehabilitation expertise.

This session is educational in nature and does not provide legal advice, clinical supervision, or case-specific vocational rehabilitation advice. Participants remain responsible for applying the VRAC Code of Ethics, applicable privacy requirements, organizational policies, contractual obligations, and professional judgment. Session 3 builds on the ethical decision-making and governance boundaries established in Sessions 1 and 2.
